It's sad that I feel the need to write down some common courtesy, but after the "5k fun run" I went out last night it seems necessary.
1) please dress appropriately for the race itself. We understand its getting hother and summer is approaching. If the race is labeled a family event with children I don't think thier mums and dads want to be explaining why the gentleman is wearing a see through white bikini. Or if it's super cold...maybe throw a tank top over your brain at the beginning. A little discretion please.
2) start where your true pace is. We all want to start running. But if you are a back of the pack pace please don't push your way up the corrals. Spending time weaving is only cause frustration, added time on those trying to qualify or go for time. Plus no one wants to be spoken about behind thier backs.
3) walk on the right and pass on the left. Everyone walks at some point. To take a selfie, catch thier breath or grab a drink. But please for the love of running shoes don't be in the left running and then just stop to a walking pace. I promise you people will throw you words and bad karma. (on that note please don't walk 4 wide or 2 strollers wide either)
4) pay attention to who is around you and what the weather is like if you are going to spit. Nothing is grosser than running and getting someone else's spit in your face or mouth. Ughhhh!
5) and for me one of the rudest behaviours... do not be running purposely cut someone off and prevent them from passing you. Speed up...pass some one...then slowly right down and just weave side to side. Don't do that on the freeway, don't do that on the race course.
